Tourista

I saw a tourist in Astoria, OR that looked really interesting. I sketched her then tried to do a painting and it turned out looking nothing like her... sigh.

Lolapps Building Lighting Tutorial

This is a little lighting tutorial I put together for some of the artists at Lolapps. It seems pretty high_- contrast for an iso background building nowadays.

Microsoft Tumblr

Sketch for a friend of a friend's tumblr!
http://microsoftlookoftheday.tumblr.com/

Description: wary-looking female in her mid twenties. Long hair that graduates from dark to yellow to blue-green tips in almost perfect thirds. Black cropped leather hoodie over cropped knit hoodie. Faded black t-shirt with the faint remains of a slogan. Black skinny jeans. Hand drawn-upon Converse. Kate Spade tote with fake typewriter keys on it.

Bored Dwalin

More Flash experiments. I'm starting to really like this animation mischief.

James Bond Walk

My first janky walk cycle! It's pretty rough, but what the heck. I'm trying to teach myself to animate better in flash.

Roxie Vizcar is an amazing illustrator and is one of the masterminds behind this zine. She asked me if I would submit a piece and I was honored to oblige.

Internet Lovin'

My buddy at work just let me know that SlashFilm had posted a page with one of my pieces, then I found two more sites doing the same. Pretty crazy. Thanks to whoever re-posted my work! I really appreciate it!

The Mirror House

I've been working on this little short story for a bit after work, but recently I've been taking a Visual Development for Animation class with Armand Balthazar and I've had to put it on hold. In the mean time I thought it would be good to share the progress instead of sitting on it for several months.

Cheers,
Mike

This is an instragram sketch of one of my favorite cafes in Seattle. Have any of you been to Zoka near Greenlake? It's a great place to sketch.

Revolutionary War Zombie

This is the first version of the cover I did for "Where the Dead Talk" by Ken Davis. Originally, it was going to be a single shot like this but ended up being a wraparound. Looking at this, I think I like it more than the final version. This was done last year in May I believe.

Here are some of the different versions. It took me awhile to figure out how I wanted to arrange the pieces.
